It was a day of music, culture and of course food at the annual Ferragosto event on Sunday.
The Bronx’ Little Italy once again put on a show of Italian culture with bands playing traditional songs. Restaurants put out tables and chairs on the street for the vast crowds who wanted a meal beyond the usual sausage and peppers sandwich.
The festival has its roots dating back to the Roman Empire, when a festival of wine and leisure was held in August. Here in the Bronx, organizers made the event more about Italian-American culture.
